Casino di Sala

A new up and coming winery from an absolutely ideal location in the hills of Panzano, Chianti Classico.  The grapes are sourced from the valley near Panzano called “Conca d’Oro”, or the Golden Basin.  Surrounded by 1,300 olive trees, this is a small vineyard with south exposure, soil composed of a shale-clay complex,  about 1,200 feet above sea level gives this vineyard a very particular uniqueness.  The first vintage was 2014, which was more or less a “learning vintage”.  After a thorough agronomic analysis, the decision was made to reduce the production to 50 ql/Ha, making the wine more expressive and to achieve a better development of the skins.  With the 2015 vintage, it became apparent of the potential of this small, unique vineyard.  Taste this and you’ll immediately notice the difference between a typical Chianti Classico.

Production is done under the guidance / consulting of Giampalo Motta, owner of the highly regarded winery La Massa, where the Rosso di Tatanni is made.  This wine technically could be a Chianti Classico, but Giampaolo is keeping it declassified as an IGT.
